Junior to Mid-LevelRemote · Eastern Time availabilityHybrid option availableContract or Contract-to-Hire

The Front-End Developer (UI/UX-strong) is responsible for designing and building intuitive, engaging, and technically sound digital experiences for The Grovery and its partners. This is a hybrid design-and-development role for someone who is equally comfortable thinking through how an experience should work and bringing that experience to life in code.

About The Grovery

The Grovery is a creative consultancy built to help organizations create clarity, alignment, and momentum.

Working primarily across healthcare, life sciences, wellness, and other highly considered industries, we align internal teams around shared audiences, priorities, messages, and plans, then translate that alignment into strategic, creative, and interactive solutions that produce meaningful external impact.

Our approach is practical, collaborative, and outcomes-obsessed. We work as an extension of our partners’ teams, combining strategy, creativity, technology, and disciplined execution to solve complex business and communication challenges.

Internal Alignment. External Impact. We believe the strongest external experiences begin with internal clarity. When teams share a common understanding of the audience, the goal, the message, and the plan, everything downstream gets better: strategy, speed, quality, and customer experience.

Our core values: C.R.E.A.T.E.

At The Grovery, our values define how partners and colleagues experience us:

  • Collaboration — We believe better work comes from working together.
  • Results-Oriented — We focus on meaningful outcomes, not activity for activity’s sake.
  • Excellence — We take pride in delivering thoughtful, accurate, high-quality work.
  • Adaptability — We remain flexible and responsive as needs, technologies, and priorities evolve.
  • Trust — We communicate openly, follow through, and do what we say we will do.
  • Empathy — We seek to understand the experiences and needs of the people we serve.

Position overview

The Front-End Developer (UI/UX-strong) is responsible for designing and building intuitive, engaging, and technically sound digital experiences for The Grovery and its partners.

Working directly with the Director, Interactive Solutions, this individual will support existing applications and websites while helping to create new client-facing experiences, internal platforms, marketing tools, dashboards, landing pages, and AI-powered applications.

This is a hybrid design-and-development role for someone who is equally comfortable thinking through how an experience should work and bringing that experience to life in code. The ideal candidate possesses a strong foundation in React and Next.js, a thoughtful visual sensibility, hands-on Figma experience, and the ability to translate business and user needs into responsive, production-ready digital products.

The successful candidate will also be comfortable working with modern AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or Cursor as part of the day-to-day workflow.

Why this role matters

The Grovery is expanding the range of interactive solutions we create for our partners and our own business. These solutions increasingly move beyond traditional websites to include resource centers, interactive tools, digital presentations, AI-enabled experiences, dashboards, persona platforms, and custom applications. This role provides the design thinking and front-end development capability needed to turn strategic ideas into useful, intuitive, and polished experiences. The Front-End Developer (UI/UX-strong) will help ensure that our digital products:

  • Solve a clearly defined audience or business need.
  • Are intuitive and easy to navigate.
  • Reflect The Grovery’s standards for strategic and creative quality.
  • Perform consistently across devices and browsers.
  • Can be efficiently maintained, expanded, and improved.
  • Balance visual creativity with usability, accessibility, and technical practicality.
  • Create a seamless experience for our partners and the audiences they serve.

Key responsibilities: UI/UX design

  • Translate business objectives, audience needs, and project requirements into clear digital experiences.
  • Develop user flows, page structures, wireframes, interface concepts, and interactive prototypes.
  • Design responsive web and application interfaces in Figma.
  • Establish clear information hierarchy, navigation, interaction patterns, and content organization.
  • Make thoughtful UI decisions regarding typography, spacing, component behavior, imagery, and visual hierarchy.
  • Design experiences that work effectively across desktop, tablet, mobile, and touch-based environments.
  • Create and maintain reusable components, interface patterns, and lightweight design systems.
  • Apply accessibility and usability principles throughout the design process.
  • Collaborate with strategy, creative, content, and account teams to ensure that user experiences support the intended audience and business goals.
  • Participate in internal and partner reviews, incorporating feedback without compromising usability or technical feasibility.
  • Identify experience gaps and recommend practical improvements to existing platforms and applications.

Key responsibilities: Front-end development

  • Build responsive, production-ready websites and applications using React and Next.js.
  • Translate approved Figma designs into accurate, polished digital experiences.
  • Develop reusable components and scalable front-end systems.
  • Write clean, organized, and maintainable HTML, CSS, Tailwind, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
  • Update, maintain, and enhance existing Next.js applications and full websites.
  • Comfortably inherit established codebases and make incremental improvements—not only develop greenfield solutions.
  • Build dynamic applications rather than relying solely on static-page development.
  • Connect front-end experiences to CMS platforms, APIs, JSON-based content, and backend services.
  • Support authentication functionality, including SSO, Google authentication, and related integrations when required.
  • Develop mobile-first and touch-friendly experiences, including carousels, swipe interactions, responsive navigation, and interactive content.
  • Optimize digital products for performance, responsiveness, browser compatibility, and accessibility.
  • Use browser development tools to inspect elements, debug CSS, monitor network requests, and test responsive behavior.
  • Identify and resolve bugs, layout issues, and technical inconsistencies before release.
  • Maintain accurate version control and follow established Git and GitHub workflows, including branching, commits, pull requests, and code reviews.

AI-assisted development

We use AI tools to move faster, not to replace the craft. You will own the architecture, the code, and the quality of the final product; tools like Claude Code and Cursor accelerate the path there.

  • Apply Claude Code, Claude CLI, Cursor, or comparable tools to accelerate prototyping, development, debugging, and refactoring.
  • Critically evaluate AI-generated code rather than implementing it without review.
  • Ensure AI-assisted work meets The Grovery’s expectations for security, reliability, performance, accessibility, and maintainability.

Key responsibilities: Website and application support

  • Maintain and enhance client-facing and Grovery-owned digital properties.
  • Build and update brochure-style marketing websites, contact forms, campaign landing pages, blogs, articles, and content-driven experiences.
  • Support recurring content, design, and functionality updates.
  • Diagnose and resolve front-end issues across active applications.
  • Conduct pre-launch and post-launch quality assurance.
  • Coordinate deployments through Netlify, Vercel, or other approved hosting environments.
  • Confirm that tracking, forms, links, authentication, and interactive functionality operate as intended.
  • Support Webflow-based websites when a partner or project requires that platform.
  • Maintain appropriate technical documentation for ongoing support and future development.

Key responsibilities: Collaboration and project delivery

  • Work directly with the Director, Interactive Solutions to define technical approaches, priorities, and development plans.
  • Collaborate with designers, writers, strategists, project managers, account teams, and outside development partners.
  • Ask thoughtful questions when requirements, content, functionality, or user expectations are unclear.
  • Provide realistic effort estimates and identify dependencies before development begins.
  • Communicate progress, risks, constraints, and potential delays proactively.
  • Participate in project kickoffs, reviews, working sessions, and quality-control processes.
  • Manage multiple assignments while maintaining organization, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Follow The Grovery’s project-management, documentation, file-management, and quality-control procedures.
  • Contribute ideas that improve the usability, efficiency, scalability, or strategic value of our interactive solutions.
  • Remain adaptable as project priorities, technologies, and partner needs evolve.

  • Experience working with CMS platforms and JSON-based content.
  • Comfort working within and improving existing codebases.
  • Strong browser-development-tool proficiency.
  • Experience testing responsive behavior across browsers, screen sizes, and devices.
